Based on data collected from a non-representative sample of 108 workers that develop
their professional activity in the Industrial Zone of Vila Real, it was assessed the incidence of work
fatigue and burnout symptoms revealed by the workers, as well if they varied according to their
sociodemographic characteristics. Data were obtained based on the Questionnaire on Stress and
Professional Exhaustion structured by Neto in 2016. For the purposes of statistical analysis,
description and statistical relationship procedures were carried out, having as reference three
formulated research hypotheses. As main results, can be highlighted that the incidence of work
fatigue is majority in acceptable or moderate levels, despite small segments of respondents
expressing high values, and a low-moderate incidence of burnout symptoms, as a result of moderate
exhaustion and personal and professional fulfilment and low depersonalization. The three
hypotheses tested were only partially confirmed, and the predictive potential of work fatigue,
particularly in relation to emotional exhaustion, should be mentioned.
