Risk and emergency management in a municipal water company

Abstract

This article focuses on the themes of professional risk assessment and emergency organization, namely fire safety, in a municipal water company in the Northern Region of Portugal. Since the establishment of the Safety and Health Service (SHS) in 2015, the area has received more attention from management and the workers themselves. There is a greater concern with safety issues, however, there is still room for improvement, and this should be one of the desired characteristics for the company activities. The SHS is in the process of updating its risk assessment maps as well as its internal emergency plan. It is in this context that the work that underlies this article was developed.
